The Call of Duty beta has started and fortunately I got a code. This for the 360. Full analysis coming soon. Will be posting more videos as and when I upload them. Looks very simmilar to CoD 4 graphically is all I am saying at the moment.
Well I got some more time with Galaxy, and it has blown every other game right out of the water. The amount of variation between the now 6 galaxies is out-standing. On top of which, I am still only a fraction through the game.
The second galaxy you get to play on is themed around Bees. The bee suit is one of the more simple suits in Galaxy, apparently, however, just the dynamics it adds are incredible. The boss in this galaxy is considerably harder than in the first Galaxy, but still shouldn't take you very long to complete.
I also got to play on the much famed Ray Surfing level. This is the first level to properly use the Wiimote, and it works fantastically. It doesn't feel gimmicky or even unnecessary. The controls are easy to use and have all the finesse of Super Monkey Ball and the whole point of that was game was its fidelity! This track is amazingly fun, and I still race down it to try and beat my time (1:01:78 if anyone wants to try) and on top of this it is accessible, with my own mother being able to play it.
In addition this, I played on the remainder of the observatory (of which I think there are 8) This included the big boss fight against one of Bowser Jr.s hench robot things. Looked, graphically, very impressive but it was easy to beat. It also included a small galaxy based on one planetoid of flip switches, but this was clearly a bonus galaxy if you like. However, possibly my high light for the entire game so far was on galaxy that was outside the observatory. In it, you are standing on this base that looks a little like party rings with cookie cutter shapes cut in to it. Sounds normal, but it is moving, and not the way you want to go. It starts off just going the opposite way to you. Then it starts going horizontally, and then swapping between the two horizontals as you go along, then switches to curves and ends with entire sections missing. It is tricky to explain, so either play on it yourself or watch this video:
Overall, I am loving every minute of this game and I can't wait till after Christmas where I can play it without restrictions. Also got to play on Call of Duty 4 for the 360. Will be doing some impressions for that too,but it is as amazing as everyone says it is.
A couple of posts ago I said that Nintendo have released a new channel in the US, but not the UK. For everyone who is on the wrong side of the pond, here are all the videos that have been released on it. Enjoy. Thanks Troy for the comment, by the way!
See the full story here The BBC iPlayer is to be launched the 27th of July this year. You will be able to download it from www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer from that day. I have been looking forward to it ever since Microsofts Mix conference last year. They will be expanding it as well, soon to be allowing live TV, the ability to stream programs so you can watch them straight away and they will bring it to TV. Guess what TV platform they are going to bring it to first? Virgin Media! I actually can't wait, other things they are planning on including are radio player and series stacking (the ability to download entire series's as I understand it.
Ok, there have been a few FPS's on the Wii, but none have been up to much. I think the Wii is perfect for FPS, because the pointer is even more accurate and intuitive than a mouse. However, if the rest of the controls aren't right, then it won't matter about the pointer. So here is a video of what I think the controls should be (and yes, that is me for those who haven't seen me before). Enjoy
Controls B - Shoot A - Jump D-Pad - Choose weapons Analogue Stick - Move Point - Aim Numchuq forward - Bring butt of gun forward Wiimote forward - Normal melee attack N/W together and forward - Massive attack, kills enemy but takes a few seconds to recover Z - Grenade W/ grenade - Pull Numchuq "out" of Wiimote like a pin. W/ pin out - "lob" the Wiimote, faster you through, further it goes Let go of Z to let go of grenade. +/- - Zoom in and out of scope 1 - Bring map up 2 - Crouch C - Command Mode Wave Wiimote in different patterns to select different units Point to tell them where to go, or issue other command like defend
So, what do you think, leave a remark with what you think should be the controls.
In other news, I think GS may have finally redone the union system, as their site is "down for maintenance"
This game has had huge hype, ridiculous anticipation and now, they may have just justified it. I watched this documentary on the MP for Halo 3. This is obviously going to be this games biggest selling point and, to say it looked awesome would be quite a considerable understatement. This is not pre-rendered, this is now an advert, this is Halo 3.
It looks incredible, to playing is so intense, Halo 3 is looking to bring the Halo franchise back on track, which is incredible giving the incredible MP before. In other Halo 3 news, the release date is set for October this year, making it the biggest game for 2007.
In other news, a new Peep Show series is starting tonight, 10:30pm. This is the funniest thing ever.
Well, the new site has been launched for some time now. It is clear to me that the forum will never be built, but I now have a new ideas for the site. I am hoping to do a "Games" page which will have links to every game that I ever covered. This will also allow me to go through and review all the games I haven't got round to. I will be making a page which will be a list of pictures like the one at the top of the Dawn of War 2 review with links to the review and another to take you to a page with all related posts. There is currently no time frame for this, as I am working on a website for my other blog - Botworks
Time to update my profile. I am a brit who likes playing games and going on the computer. This blog is a pass time, but I would like to think it is pretty accurate and not TOO biased. I have a PC, a Xbox, Xbox 360 and a Wii. I like Coldplay, Razorlight and the Beatles. I also enjoy going to town and XNA programming.
In XNA, I am currently working on a RTS game code named Frozen Kangaroo(FK)
