Revlution Renamed - Wii

The new console from Nintendo has changed its name! At first I thouht it was a poorly shortend title for the news item and that it was an improvement to the wifi or something but no. I am still trying to work out their reasons behind it. They say it was the anser to the name revolution but I am not blown over by it. Although I have nothing against the name itself, I feel they have left it too late to change it as everyone knows it as the revolution. Apparently the 2 'i's are meant to represent their controller and playing together. Hopefully the name will grow on me.

Sorry for not writting recently, I have a lot on with SATS and everything, hopefully after next week I will get back to frequent writting, starting with quick reviews for : Black, Oblivion, PGR3, Gost Recon Advanced warfighter and others. Also, full length revies of Civ 4 and Fable the lost chapters.

AoE 3 Expansion

For all of you who bought Age of Empires 3 I have news. There is a new expansion coming along fairly soon after E3. It will include 3 playable native factions, new units/techs etc. for European civs, a new single player campaign and improved home cities.

The Native factions are designed to play differently to the European factions. They will not have the technology of the Europeans but each one will have a unique way to deal with them. Ensemble Studios did not make it clear if they would have a home city but I think they will have an equivalent. They will have an entirely new building/tech/unit charts as well.

As with every expansion pack there will be numerous new stuff. The new stuff will include a range of military units, mercenaries, new cards for your cities and some other stuff.

The new campaignis going to be based around history this time round. Apparently last time it was mostly fictional.

They did not say how the cities were going to be improved, merely said you will find out @ E3.

I will do a post like this for the Civ 4 Expansion when more information is available. Oh yeah, the expansion is called 'WarCheif" Which is one of the special units available to the natives.

Blog Update

There probably won't be many posts now until after May due to SATS. Having said this I still hope to review both Civ 4 and Fable: The Lost Chapters but I can make no promise.

I have decided to group all my gaming and technology internet items under one name:'Veteran Gamer'. You can view the website at homepage.ntlworld.com/robert.kiley/vg.swf. It will move and be placed in an HTML file soon. Because of this this blog will go over a re-design to feel much more contemporary. Firstly, I will just change the colour scheme, but when I get round to it it will be a full redesign so keep your eyes peeled.

To the joy of many, the relief of others and the disappointment of a few the new law prohibiting children under the age of 17 being able to M rated games has fallen through on the grounds that it goes against the US. Constitution of Free Speech. This will mean that it is unlikely that this law is going to have any side effects in the UK. Phew. You can read the full story here.

Also this month I might give a low down on the PS3 and Nintendo Revolution. It ain't looking good for Sony is all I can say.

My new Google group has launched so if you want to try and get in go to the webpage mentioned above a cycle round to Google group.

Thought of the month: "Revolution Vs. 360, sorry what was that Sony, you want to be a part too, maybe when you are older"

Blog Update

I was inspired this morning to write this post because someone I don't know has left a comment related to the blog. [Update: I then checked my other mail box and discovered I do know him :(] I was going to write it any way but I never got round to it.

His question was "I have heard that the PS3 is coming out next Christmas, is this true?"

Sony originally said that it was coming out around about now in Japan, despite EA saying "What, are you crazy, you haven't even given us development software yet" Sony stuck to their guns. Recently they have come out and said "yeah you were right" At the moment there is only one confirmed release date and that is November, but before you get your hopes up that is just in Japan. My theory is because Sony say it will be 10x more powerful that the X360 and still be cheap they won't have enough money to launch world wide simultaneously as they need to make some money from the games before they can make more. Because of this it is unlikely that, unless Sony sell millions of games and consoles very quickly it is unlikely it will hit America before March, even later for Europe. Having said this all news behind the PS3 is very liquid at the moment and so not even the confirmed dates are set in stone. We will have to wait and see. In conclusion, if you live in Japan you might get it next Christmas, if you don't it is almost impossible you will get it before Christmas

Also I have now been on a Xbox 360. It was awesome, I will interview him and the other person who I know to have one. The reason this is so late is because I have had my French Exchange student here. Although it was hard work having to constantly look after some one it was great fun. I am looking to going over to France where I will play tons of Xbox 36o with him as he has one.

Furthermore I got Fable Lost Chapter this weekend. It is an open ended RPG for the Xbox. I hope to review it after Civ 4. I will do quick reviews when I have been round to my friends’ house and played on black.

Finally, if you are in the Guildford area, go see The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe at the electric theatre.

Quick Reviews coming soon which will include Black

Windows Vista

Microsoft have announced their new OS to be released at the end of this year : Windows Vista. Apart from all the usual upgrades in security/performance ect. they are turning Windows style up side down. Windows are translucent, effects 3D and altogether has a very flash website feel to it. Other improvements include live search. ie, as you type a letter in it instantly comes back with the results. This was first used by Google with Ajax and is available at google suggest. If you have Fire Fox with Grease Monkey then you can get a script for it that will use it on the home page.

Another update to the searching it that you can apply 'meta tags' to the file. These are basically key words so you don't have to know what the file name is to find it.

In the gaming world one of the most exciting things about Vista is it will ship with DirectX 10. Microsoft claim it will offer 6-8x the graphical power of DirectX 9. The implication of this is if you are looking to get a graphics card, wait until the big companies release their DirectX 10 cards.

Another feature is the multiple browsers. For example you have a media browser which lets you view images, watch movie clips and listen to tracks, there is also a games browser which will allow you to sort by numerous things. I think they will both be a like iTunes/WMP in the sense that, as far as I am aware, get information of a server that says all the pieces of information.

Stay tuned for more Vista updates and don't buy a new computer unless you have to, hold off until Vista.

Legend of Zelda Wind Waker and Ico

My friends were arguing over some game graphics and as gaming is my one real hobby I thought I'd step in. The two games were Legend of Zelda Wind Waker and Ico. The argument wasn't between which one was better though. They were arguing about whether the above mentioned Zelda game had decent graphics. Ico was only drawn in as an example to show what 'decent' graphics are. Here is my verdict on both of them:

Before anyone goes "They are rubbish because they are cartoony/any other style" I would like to say graphic qualitly has nothing to do with style, it is to do with how smooth a circle is, how far things are drawn and how good the textures are.

Legend of Zelda Windwaker

It is fair to say these graphics are meant to be cartoony. This may put some people off and is certainly not the most widely used style for a reason. The curves are very good and non main features have been blurred to great a soft feel. Textures are possibly the downfall to this graphics. They use plain colors with few gradients and a lack of realistic repeating plans. Also, the water is not very good. The game was released in late March 2003.

Score: 3.5/10

Ico

This was used as the example of 'Good Graphics'. To say that at first sight these look amazing. Upon closer inspection how ever you discover that the textures are not repeated but just stretched to create pixelated texture. As with Zelda, water has been done fairly poorly. When some one gets in water it ripples, it is not a solid mirror. Also, they have completely missed out shadow and it does not handle distance at all well. On the other hand, the main characters are beautifully rendered and the textures at a distance look very nice. Because the game is fairly new I would also expect individual blades of grass not a stretched texture called grass.jpg It was released early December 2005.

Score : 4/5

Blog Update

Hello everyone
Hi Dr. thk123

I am truly addicted to playing Civ 4 and now I have played all forms of multi player have run out of excuses of why I have not reviewed it. I will try to review it this month but I have a lot on:

  • Playing Civ 4

  • Lion, Witch wardrobe rehearsals

  • Playing Civ 4

  • Paper Round

  • Playing Civ 4

  • Writing to my French Exchange student

  • Playing Civ 4

  • Having a social life (what ever)

  • Playing Civ 4

  • Doing HW

  • Playing Civ 4

I rest my case. Also, I hope to write some questions for people who own a X360 and so when I get the replies to them I will post them.

I went to the Surrey Skills Festival Yesterday. SSF is this thing for people in year 9 to help them make choices about later life. It was really fun as I got to be on the radio, TV, record stuff, video stuff and loads of other great stuff. (yes there was a competition to use 'stuff' the most times in one sentence.)

In other gaming news Creative Assembly, the genius's behind Total War, have said they are making 'Medieval 2: Total War.' Why not Rome Total War or Shogun Total War. I will get it at some point but as far as I can tell it is Rome Total War in Medieval Times.

Also, Splinter Cell 4 has now been named Splinter Cell : Double Agent. It is now slightly RPGish. I quote the advert "How far will you go to succeed". Basically you are an double agent and you will pretend to be on the badies team. I don't know if this will work. It will still be a good game is my reckoning thought because the original people are on the job and so far all of theirs have been AMAZING.

I would like to draw your attention to my new blog that will soon be changing its address. Currently it is at http://starwarsep7.blogspot.com/. Basically it is me and a group of my friends making a movie. It will probably collapse fairly soon but what the hey. Read it to find out more.

Xbox 360 Quantity Update

Now, as you all know, there is a massive shortage of Xbox 360s in England. Microsoft have claimed they sent more than 40 but but some how I doubt it. Unfortunatly this meant that there were alot of unhappy people. Up until now Game(shop.game.net) have been saying they will release theirs in early Febuary and are taking no bookings. HMV (www.hmv.co.uk) on the other hand are selling as they come in and are taking bookings. The problem is, in HMV it will be June before they catch up on the amount of preorders. And that is if know one else calls in. I saw this poster in Game which may show the turning of the tide.

If the picture appears garbled click on it for a clear picture)

This picture was taken on the 13/01/05 on Game on Guildford High Street. If I get any more info (I might phone Game and HMV and record the conversation providing it is legal) I will tell you.

Quick Reviews

Alot of the games I am reviewing are X360. I played them at my local game. The graphics really are as good as they claim to be and once you have got used to the controller it is wonderful. But what about the game play?

Kameo :Elements of Power - Xbox 360
Wonderful. I really enjoyed rolling about in a rock a jumping huge jumps and then digging under the enemy as a plant and smashing them away. It is very linear and not particularly revolutionary in game concepts but is fun none the less. What I particularly like is that you have to think how are you going to tackle particular enemies. Like there are these ones which roll around then hit you with a club. When you attack the normally they just roll up in to a ball for a bit a suffer no damage. What you have to do is to make them go in to a ball and then roll them into this pit of lava.

Call of Duty 2 - Xbox 360
Thankfully it does not have the ridiculous sub name 'Big Red One' like it's PC/PS2/Xbox versions do. The particle effects are so cool to watch, but if you do you will find your self dead. This game is so intense that you find your self shouting at your men and when a grenade explodes you almost dive away from the console. The game has 2 main weaknesses. One, it has already been done about a million times before and two you die about every 4 seconds. What sets this apart from all other FPSs is that you have to think everything through to stay alive. For instance, you might have to chuck a smoke grenade out in front of your truck. Swing your self over the side, stumble about blindly until you find something to hide behind. So in this scenario you have to work out where you are going. Plus, you have to asses you targets. A great game, I highly recommend it for your 360.

Peter Jacksons King Kong : The Official Game of the Movie - Xbox 360
This game is terrible for a number of reasons. For one the title is too long! For 2, unless there is lightning the graphics are mediocre for an Xbox. HELL THIS IS AN XBOX 360. It is unclear what you are meant to be doing and then you die. I like the idea of playing as the beast and the human. But the beast you just press RT and with the men you find your self laughing at the fact these people are yelling at you to do what they might have told you but probably while there was thunder. On the plus, the movie is good so all credit to Peter Jackson

My friend leant me a few Xbox games because he has sold his xbox so that he has enough money for a 360. He said I could have the games that won't work on the 360 and borrow the ones that will. I will review 2 this month and one next month.

Forza Motor Sport - Xbox
This racing game got a great deal of praise from Gamespot and will get a great deal from me. Although I prefer unrealistic racing games like PGR. I really enjoyed this one. It has many strengths. The most noted one is the fact you can customize every car to the extreme. From put a cool paint job on it to practically putting a Enzos engine in a Mini! My favorite strength is when you are racing at 200 MPH, the thrill is unbelievable. Spinning cars and watch them smash in to cars miliseconds behind, trying to get control of your car when you are spinning. I love it. It is because of the realism that this exists. What I need is a realistic racing game. PGR3!!!.

Secret Weapon over Normandy - Xbox
This is a 3rd person plain shooter with awesome plane explosions in single player. The game is great fun, puts you in a variety of different missions. From destroying speeding missiles or infiltrating a German bas to destroy its landing craft its there. The multi-player, although fun. Is not as fun as it could be. Yes it Versus and co-op. But versus becomes boring and there are no way enough missions. Plus, all planes blow up in same/similar ways.

King Kong and my Gaming Mood Board

You have to go see King Kong. I went to see it on Saturday and it is the kind of Movie where it won't be nearly as good at home unless you have a home cinema system. You won't get the branches cracking behind you as you are running through this forrest or the deafing roar echo all around you. Aside from the experince the film is AWESOME. When Kong grabs those planes. Just go see it. I recomend it.

Also, for my Textiles we had to make a mood board. I did it on gaming. So here you go. It is a supplment of CONSOLE WARS.

Blog Update

Happy New Year everyone.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and got what they wanted. I GOT CIV 4. And after many days spent trying to get it working I am now officially addicted. A full review this month. Here is a taster of the review.

"Many people have described this game as addictive, smoking is addictive and people quit smoking."

Also, my friend who was going to get an Xbox 360 has the money now just needs a place to buy it that is around the RRP rather than £600! so we will just have to wait until February.

This month also:

  • Quick Reviews - Featuring 3 Xbox 360 games

  • Current Generation Wars - Console wars supplement examining the Xbox, PS2 and NGC.

  • If your lucky Alpha Centurai Review

Thought of the Month :"Is the total amount of Xbox 360s in England more than 5 or not?

Xbox 360 Update

I got to play on an Xbox 360 a couple of days ago. No none of my friends have one but the game in town does so when I walk home I play on it! The only game I have got to play is Call of Duty 2. Let me review the console itself rather than the game (I will review it in quick reviews as it is only a demo)

The Controller
The controller is probably going to be the best controller this generation. But then it would have been that if that hadn't changed it at all. The others are absolutely rubbish (more in CONSOLE WARS) So, how does it compare with the current controllers. It is far superior to the Xboxes controller. It is unfortunately a blatant copy of the NGCs but it is a bit better than it because it has 2 shoulder buttons instead of one. The dual shock controller was undoubtedly the best controller ever made. It was the right size, all the buttons were easy to reach and two clickible analog sticks. The X360 however has all this but triggers. I think they are now on equal levels as the PS2 still has a slightly nicer feel to it. For most Xbox users it will very small at first. Those triggers are far smaller and can be pushed not nearly as far. I think this is bad because it means reduced control when it is pressure sensitive like driving games. But on the flip side it does fit n to your hand a lot better.

The Graphics
Yes the graphics really do look amazing. You use the binoculars at 1ft and you can see tons of detail on one of your mens face. The physics are incredible. When you chuck a grenade all the men recoil in a different way. The graphics are NO let down.

More info on game play extra will be in the quick reviews. I will make it an extended 'quick reviews'

GO NOW

This has absolutly nothing to do with gaming I will say that now.

I am a suscriber to Google Video or something and everyday he selects a movie from google videos that is the best for that day. They are all normally quite good but this one is AMAZING. It is free-running. BIG STYLE.

Here is the link http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=515642196227308929

This is what the guy who found it said:
"Wow! This guy is amazing: a very Jackie Chan-like romp through abandoned properties in Russia at a breakneck run. Another guy joins him after a few minutes, and he's obviously not as good. There appears to be no safety measures of any kind taken, which makes this pretty dangerous. I don't know if this is a well-practiced routine, or not, but it definitely is worth a watch. This is another longer video for the weekend (though not too long)."

Quick Reviews

This is a new regular to my blog. I will review 5 games that I don't own. They will be games that I have played on at a friends house or got a demo of. The aim is so that I can:
a)Cover more games
b)Make my blog more accessible for people who don't have time to read my full reviews.

Todays games are:

Battle Front
Battle Front 2
Halo 2
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Age of Empires 3

Battle Front
Battle front is a 1st/3rd person shooter. In the demo I have it has one map, the one where the republic have to destroy the shield bunker. The game has a simple backbone. Both army's have a certain amount of troop reinforcements. For every man you kill they lose one. Also, one team will have an objective, like destroy the bunker. The graphics are quite good considering its age but there are no cool special effects. Over all it is great fun but is hardly revolutionary.

Battle Front 2
Battles Front 2 is very similar the the original. Because I played it at a friends house I got to see much more of the game. A big feature is the ability to play in space which is confusing at first but fun once you get in to it. Their are 2 campaigns. One is simple missions that you complete in a chronological order, the other though features a TB section. My friend and I played this bit multi player. It was good but there wasn't, as to be expected, much micro-management and you just choose which units you could be in the battles and built fleets. I think I would enjoy it more if he wasn't so good at it. The graphics have advanced slightly, but still includes no special effects except for some of the vehicles blow up in cool ways.

Halo 2
I think I am the only Xbox owner who doesn't have Halo 2 but does have 16+ rated games. My friend has let me borrow many times so I have played both single and multiple player much. I think the multi player is really fun. There is a wide variety of maps, exciting vehicles and lots of grenades. On the flip side though, I don't think the single player is very good. I say this at the risk of getting a huge amount of back lash, but it is true. All the missions you just run around killing stuff that is so weak you can beat it up with a pistol twice before they kill you. The story line is meant to be really good but the only reason people say that is because Microsoft said it and their is a 'story' as such. Overall, good if you have friends.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Possibly the best Xbox game ever. The single player is intensive, thrilling, un-repetitive and challenging. The multi player co-op, instead of just being the same or a bit harder, is completely different. You get a different set of missions. Their are special moves like climbing on one and other and there are bits where you have to split up and come into a room at the same time. It also has versus but that requires 2 copies of the game so we couldn't try that out but we went on the tutorial and it looks immense. The graphics on this game are stunning two. My only fault is it is not very long.

Age of Empires 3
Age of Empires 3 is a real time strategy game. It is very similar to the other ones and many people complain they haven't done enough to it. They have added some new features and of course the new graphics engine. All the changes that have been made to the original game have been good ones but there aren't enough. Blog Update

Hello, sorry this is 1 day late, I just completely forgot.

I am in a REALLY bad mood today, a car while, I was walking home, acknowledged me, acknowledgedly the puddle I was walking past and then sped up, soaking me head to foot. In hind site he probably thought he could get past it if he slowed down, but I still would have preferred he he hadn't tested it.

24 days till Christmas
24 days till Christmas
24 days till Christmas

Christmas is here. The next generation is here. Everything is here. Well except the PS3 and Nintendo Revolution! just think, next blog update and it will all be over.

Updates:
The Xbox 360 wired controllers don't work with computer but you can buy special ones that will work with Xbox 360 and computer.
There will be no interview with an Xbox 360 owner till after January, because they have been pre ordered up until then .Bad luck if you put your money down and you are still not going to get it until 2 moths later, that will teach you for not following my advise. I wonder if I ever said that advice.
I haven't actually got AoE 3 because it was £7 more than it was advertised on their site so I might get it from Amazon, get it for Christmas or not get it all.

I want to review Winter Sports because it will be a good game to review. Also, today I am going to try and get my 'Quick Reviews' out today as well.

I may do part 2 of console wars or a supplement to it. But then again I want to definitely review a game this month because it seems like ages since I have.

Also, I now have a podcast. It is not very good at the moment and although it says next week I think every month is a more achievable goal. Anyhow, if you have Ipodder then the xml address is hompage.ntlworld.com/robert.kiley/Podcast/podcast.xml. It is only ten minutes long and won't take a second to download. Tell me what you think of it if you do.

I got slaughtered in Alpha Centurai last night. I played it on hardest to see what is was like and they had a major problem with me being democratic and took the issue to the battle field, with an army twice the size and more sophisticated than mine, so I died quite quickly. Now I am back down to my normal level. (NO IT NOT THE EASIEST, its the second easiest!)

Also this month I want to create a list to give you some ideas on what you might want this Christmas.

Though of the month: "Will I ever review all my games?"

Console Wars - Part One : XBOX 360

In this my 4 part piece called console wars, I will be looking at the 3 main consoles:- the 360; PS3; and the Revolution. There will be supplements and a conclusion completely free!

The Xbox 360 has come out this month in America, 2nd of December for the first Xbox over here. No, it's not that bad, but why is there a staggered release. Oh well. Anyhow, the Xbox 360 will have 2 price packages on launch and, although not fully clear, a good selection of launch titles. From racers like PGR3 to FPS like Call of Duty 2.

The price packages are:

£209 - Core

  • One Xbox 360
  • 1 Wired Controller

£279 - Expansive
  • Xbox 360
  • 1 Wireless controller
  • Xbox live kit
  • And also, at launch:
  • Wireless network card
  • Xbox live headset
  • And some other stuff

Neither of these include any games which, for the record, are £50 when the games are launched.

One of the Xbox's strengths was Xbox Live. It worked seamlessly, keeping track of all your scores and allowing you to have one score across multiple games. The only disadvantage was it was pricey. This time round it is free, well silver is anyway. Silver means that you can talk with your friends, play some games(like MMORPGs not games you have bought) and allows you to access and download stuff from the market. You can upgrade to gold, for £50 a year, which will of course allow you to play games on line. The Xbox live headset now goes directly into your controller and shortly after launch it will do even this without any wires.

The Controller

The original Xbox controller is, by a majority vote, its downfall. The black and white buttons being the only problem. These have been moved to the space above the triggers, yes right where your fingers were resting doing nothing. It now looks even more like a GameCube's controller. Also, the start and back buttons have been moved to the center but this is purely for aesthetic reasons. Furthermore, an Xbox live button has been added, this button will take you directly to the Xbox live main menu. The only problem with this being that if you are playing an intense round in any game and you are mashing the controller madly you might accidently hit it, thus terminating the game pretty fast!

Because the controllers are wireless, Microsoft have devised a new system so you know what port you are in. The power button has a green glow around it. This glow, or as Mirosoft call it: 'the ring of power', is segmented into four lights. On the Xbox live button there is the same design. One of these will light up on your controller and a corresponding one on the Xbox. Each light represents a different port. Clever eh?

Very simmilar to the GC, at least you can use the black and white buttons.

Much more stylish while retaining the origanl design. How long will it look that clean though?!

Hard Drive

Another one of the stengths of the Xbox was the hard drive. It meant you didn't need to buy memory cards, you had masses of storage and you would struggle to lose it. Un-fortunately this is changing. As you saw in the price plan, the hard drive is an optional extra. By optional I mean the Xbox will start up with out it. What is worse it, in modern terms 20GB is tiny, most iPods have more than that.

Release Titles

The games look very good though, here is the list for launch. Obviously more will be released fairly soon after but these are the firm-grounded rumour titles:
  • Amped 3 - Snowboarding
  • Call of Duty - WWII Shooter
  • Condemed Criminal Orignins - Shooter
  • Crystal Quest - Crystal Quest
  • Dead or Alive 4 - Fighting
  • eCHANT arM -Adventure
  • Final Fantasy XI - Adventure
  • Kameo : Elements of Power - Platform
  • Mutant Storm - Shooting
  • Need for Speed : Most Wanted - Racer
  • Novadrome - Racing
  • Perfect Dark Zero - Shooting - Yes, it is the PREQUEL to the Dark Zero series
  • Project Gotham Racing 3 -Racing
  • Quake 4 - Shooting
  • The Elder Scrolls : Oblivion - Adventure
  • Tiger Woods PGA tour 06- Golf
  • Tom Clancy's Gost Recon 3 - Shooting
  • Tony Hawks : American Wastland -Skateboarding
  • Wardevil : Unleash the Beast Withing - Action Adventure
Extensive eh? Defintly get PGR 3, it looks immense, I would recommend another but for two reasons I shan't.
1)If you can afford another one at £50 you should give some money to charity
2)There is about 6 or 7 of them which are going to be great, Tony Hawks will be good, as will Ghost Recon, and Elder scrolls and...the list goes on.

The amount of formats it supports will mean that you will not have to buy a DVD adaptor. I, as a flash author, am disappointed to see that .swf is not included. Oh well, we can always dream. Also, because of the USB, it means things like PSPs and iPods will plug in. Mircosoft is embracing the enemy.

The Marketing

Many people think that Microsoft have launched too early. They have shortened the life of the Xbox, as it is still going strong. Also, it will mean Sony will have the whole market to themselves. A theory that I have come up with is that because they are a generation behind Sony, they are going to get 2 out before Sony gets one out.

It is clear that they have shortened the life of the Xbox because there are games still planned for release as late as spring next year(Splinter Cell 4)

Conclusion

So we embark on a journey to the next generation. Come January, as they will be sold out until then, there will be an interview with some one who has one as one of my friends is getting it. I think this will be a lot better than the old Xbox and will finally give Microsoft the chance to become a house-hold name in gaming. They can't lose this Christmas. They win by default.

The next generation is here...

The closest gaming gets to philosophy

The great philosophical question:
To get Age of Empires, or to not get age of empires and save my money.

I have thought about this long and hard. And, after 24 hours of deep meditation, I have come to a conclusion. I SHALL GET AGE OF EMPIRES 3.

I had trouble choosing whether to get it because all the reviews on the web are like:
Yeah is great but then again its rubbish, it has the same formula, but thankfully they haven't changed the formula. All these ideas were found in one review. I vow, to give a review that is deciding. That tells you if it is good or bad. Not both. It will be a review GAMESPOT would envy.

Money burning a hole in your pocket?

A random post.

Now is a great time to buy a game if you are looking to spend some money. Lots of good games are out at the moment and Christmas is still far enough away not to worry about stealing someones present idea. If RTS is your style you have 'Age of Empires 3' and 'Civ 4'. If you are still buzzing about the Sims and need something new, or if your looking for a new tycoon game there is 'The Movies'. Also, you have 'Fable Lost Chapters' if you are looking for an RPG. Also, on the market at the moment is Call of Duty 2, a great looking FPS. Barbarian invasion is worth picking up as well, and of course you have the Xbox 360 if you have lots of money in your pocket.
